We are bones clad in flesh and flesh clad in skin. Trauma to bones lead to lots of bleed; enough to make you dead in a heart beat. Why is breaking bones so easy and repairing them a huge task? Casting and slabs take some thirty minutes and major operation hours and hours.
The beeping sound, the spirit smell and freezing cold in operation theater yet you sweat with no end. The surgeon keeps on drilling the bone and you can feel it in your head. There’s blood, betadine and saline waterfall with hammering, fixing and tightening of screws, giving you a headache. Damn, that four kilos lead jacket for protection against x rays! I wish I can escape, sometimes, yet I am caught in the middle and I am hardly of no help.
I get a chance to wash. Happily, I scrub myself just to hold a foot in various positions and retract the tissues for endless hours. Now, I have severe backache! I get to do few sutures and that’s the only thing that brightened my life on the depressing day.
I wonder why can’t people just take care of themselves and their bones. Take enough Calcium, vitamin B12 and prevent unnecessary falls. And, for Godsake, wear helmets, seat belts and don’t drink drive. You may not care about your life but it’s not easy to see a life fail and work at odd hours. Heck! I have to go again early morning for a wound dressing!
Awww…holding the leg in different positions😂😂😂 and wasting saaman is what you learnt in Ortho 🌚

Hahaha! Thank you so much. I hate getting up early morning and going to do just one thing and again go back to do the remaining work on stipulated time🤦🏻♀️
Thank you so much Yeshu! Medical school teaches you one thing and this is to laugh and smile at your own misery🤣

Well I must say that’s a great teaching.
I hate early mornings too. I am a night person. Morning does not work for me. But life always have its own schedule and plan.

No me-time at all.
I had almost fainted holding my daughter for sutures … the doc was relaxing me more than my daughter 😂

Hahaha! I can feel you in this having no time from myself. I just sleep or work!
For people it’s pretty difficult. When I got sutured and it had to be removed as kid dad couldn’t bear it, he left the room, leaving me alone🤭

I can sleep in surgery too if not getting scolded. OT is pretty boring. Just observe and only one Chance to wash
